The FM-56CNR Series provides greater flexibility in
platform design for MB and OEMs. It offers a
low-cost solution for implementing LAN, modem
and audio subsystems that allow the PC-OEMs to
benefit from the integration of different
technologies/ features into Chipsets,
motherboard SKU reduction, and lower the
complexity of homologation process. The
specification defines the CNR architecture for
both standard and low-profile risers and
includes electrical, mechanical, and thermal
requirements of the riser interface.
Improvements
over AMR:
- No
need to substitute a PCI slot for a riser
card slot
- Reversed
component side allows PCI slot sharing.
Shares same chassis backplane opening
- Single
RJ-11 connection for all phone line
technologies
- Multiple
interfaces for scaleable comm. functions
